Beginner Gym Plan: Your First 8 Weeks
A simple 8-week beginner gym plan: what to do each week, how to progress, and how to avoid the mistakes most beginners make.
Weeks 1–2: learn the moves
Train three times a week with a full-body workout. Use light weights and focus on form: squats, push-ups or chest press, rows, Romanian deadlifts and planks. Leave 2–3 reps in the tank.
Weeks 3–5: add a little each week
Keep the same exercises and add a little weight or one rep each session. This is called progressive overload, and it's what makes you stronger and changes your shape.

Weeks 6–8: split it up
Move to a push / pull / legs split over 3–4 days for more volume per muscle. Keep walking 8,000+ steps a day for fat loss.
Mistakes to avoid
Changing your program every week, skipping legs, ego lifting with bad form, not eating enough protein and expecting results in 10 days. Consistency over 8–12 weeks wins.
